PROGRAM SUMMARY. (cont.)
Each student will receive high-intensity physical agility drill instruction. This workout centers on increasing students’ athletic skill levels in several areas: agility, endurance, recovery time, and hand–eye coordination.
Program success is based largely upon 100% attendance by participants. To encourage high attendance by participants, the program will be incentive-based. Student incentives will range from athletic scholarships for summer camps and workout equipment to video games and tickets to sporting events. Snacks will be provided for all students at each study hall session. Students will also receive supplies needed to participate in each study hall session
Program Assessment – “Measuring Success”
When implementing any youth development program it is important to quantify the overall effect of the program, therefore, we have developed a process to measure the success of the program which will include:
Pre-Testing
All students given standardized assessment test to measure academic level. The goal of the program is to identify where students are currently to use that as a starting point or building block to further improve and develop their academic and athletic skills
Post-Testing
Students given same assessment test at the end of the program to measure and quantify their improvement
Participants in the program will meet weekly on Saturday mornings from 11:30am – 2:30pm. A typical morning schedule is as follows:
11:30-12:00pm Group A Academics Computer Lab
12:00-1:00pm Group B Lunch / Mentoring Lecture Hall
